38 Special Super Fan

38 special has been my favorite band since the very early 80s. This page (and most of the site) will probably end up being a fan site dedicated to those Wild Eyed Southern Boys.

Gear Page – A lot of bands have extensive accounting of the gear the use to both play live and record in studio.  38 Special seems to not have much available.

First step, reserch and collect any info that is out there and compile it into one place.
second step, See if we can figure out, or better get first hand info on the gear they use.
Don has played the same Guitar for what i think is over 40 years. It Looks like a 50’s Les Paul Junior double cut.  I think it might be the same guitar used in the video for Caught up in you.  Don also plays a Green (Marine Sunburst) Ibanez. I think this is an 80s artist series either a 300 or a 350. it apears to be modified as the photos i took of it in person, do match up with any of the stock photos i can find online. Most notably the tailpiece seems to be replaced and i think there is a filled spot under it. The ar 350 can with Tremelo, and if Don;s is in fact a 350 it has had the Tremolo removed. The 300 had a decorative plate below the tailpiece. Dons’s does not have this plate present.
